EPS-95 Pension Hike 2025 : In one major relief to pensioners, the government has declared a big-in-scale hike in the Employees’ Pension Scheme (EPS-95) for 2025. This year’s very beginning is going to see the disbursement of minimum monthly pension of ₹7,500 to more than 7.8 million retirees, marking one of the biggest increases ever in the history of the scheme. This would surely provide some financial security to retired employees, most of whom have been demanding an increased pension in line with the rising cost of living.
What Is EPS-95 And Why The Hike Matters
EPS-95 comes under the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) benefits to give pension to private sector employees post-retirement. For years, retirees have been appealing to the government to increase the minimum monthly pension that was earlier even less than ₹1,000 in some cases. The present announcement of ₹7,500 as monthly pension satisfies the long-pending demand, thereby ultimately securing better financial welfare for old pensioners.
Who Will Benefit From The Hike?
The pension hikes will serve:
- Retired EPS-95 members, those under EPFO
- Surviving spouses and dependent relatives of members who have deceased
- Pensioners in the private and semi-government sectors who qualify under EPS-95
The hike increases will apply automatically, with no fresh application required from the beneficiaries. The pension amount will be credited directly to the bank accounts of the EPS pensioners.
When Will The New Pension Start
From April 2025, the revised pension structure will be implemented, and the first payment, with the hike reflected, will be released from May 2025. Retirees will receive arrears for April in May.
Why Pensioners Consider This To Be A “Relief”
Keeping with inflation, medical costs, and daily expenses going up, pensioners frequently found it impossible to get by on their previous pension amount. The increase to ₹7,500 per month can be considered an essential step toward ensuring a dignified and secured life post-retirement.
